Community Guidelines

Welcome to The Therapist Sanctuary. We’re so glad that you’re here!

Please review the guidelines below to make sure that this community is the right fit for you.

A link to these guidelines is always available at the top of the community discussions page in the membership community.

Our mission at The Therapist Sanctuary is to create an accessible and inclusive online space of rest, heartfelt support and connection, advocacy, and mind-body-spirit nourishment for therapists everywhere.

Our culture is one of kindness, collaboration, nonjudgment, and mindful interaction. We are all co-creators of the culture of this community. Above all, be kind. Even the most nuanced ways in which we treat each other matter deeply and cumulatively create the feel and fabric of this community.

Maintain confidentiality of clients: When posting to ask for resource ideas, books, training materials, etc., regarding a clinical question that is perhaps related to a specific client, practice extra caution and care to avoid sharing any specific or identifying details of a client or client case that would break their confidentiality in any manner.

Maintain confidentiality of fellow Therapist Sanctuary community members Please avoid breaking the confidentiality of fellow community members in any way.

The need for social justice is baked into our foundational philosophy of therapist self-care: Social injustices directly impact the lives, health, and basic human rights of many of us therapists and our families (as well as the lives of our clients and their families) every day.

We celebrate and embrace the diversity of paths, styles, specialties, schedules, approaches, niches, fee structures, and choices that are available to us all in the therapy field: It is this very diversity in our field that will best meet the vast and ever-growing mental health needs of our communities.

We are body-affirming and inclusive: We offer resources on unlearning diet culture and creating safe spaces for body inclusivity in the community resources section of our membership community

Approach any discussion in this community with kindness: While this is a community created and intended for compassionate support and rest, the occasional healthy debate may arise in the community discussion boards. If you find yourself in one, please be kind, thoughtful, and collaborative when navigating the discussion.

When offering support to colleagues, you're invited and encouraged to lead with responses of understanding and validation rather than giving advice (unless the community member is specifically asking for advice):  Leading with understanding and validation helps to build a supportive and nurturing feel that is at the heart of this community.

Please avoid unprompted or out-of-context promotion of your products or services in community discussion boards: If you've created goods or services that you would like to share with your fellow colleagues, please share them on our Therapist Sanctuary Marketplace listings page. We'd love to hear about and see your offerings! And, if a community member inquires about a good or service related to something that you offer, you're invited to give your offering a brief mention in whichever thread the question arises.

When practicing the gentle practices offered in the video and audio libraries, you're invited to honor your body’s wisdom and work gently, respecting your body’s abilities and limits and not performing any movement that is painful: You're always encouraged to explore any instinctive or suggested variations of the yoga and mindful movement and breath practices that might suit your body better today and remember that less is more.

Please avoid sharing content from our libraries in any other space. The content in our video, audio, and reading libraries is reserved for the use of community members only. Copying and sharing this information outside of the community space is prohibited.

Please notify the administrators of community guideline violations: The administrators are not always able to read every post and interaction in a timely manner. If you see an unkind comment or are aware of a behavior that violates the community guidelines, please contact us so that we can address it promptly. All alerts made to community moderators are kept anonymous.

The administrators reserve the right to remove the membership of anyone who violates the community guidelines at any time: Comments that violate the community guidelines will be removed, and the commenter will be contacted by moderators to notify them of the decision to remove the comment. In the event of a repeated guideline offense and depending on the specific circumstances, the guideline violator will be contacted by moderators, and their membership may be removed from The Therapist Sanctuary community. We have a zero-tolerance policy on intentionally disrespectful or unkind behavior.

If you have questions, wish to suggest an additional guideline or a guideline revision, or have a concern that you'd like to share with us, please message us here! We consider your feedback and insight very important, and we will always work to take your valuable ideas and perspectives into account.
